The MacLaren Art Centre is committed to the protection of the personal information of its members, donors, volunteers, customers, exhibitors and employees as set out in the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Art (Canada).
What is personal information?The Act covers the collection and confidentiality of personal information about an identifiable individual, such as but not limited to a person’s name, telephone number, email address, home and/or work address , and information such as credit card, health, financial status, and grades. While the Act does not cover the collection of the name, title or business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization, the MacLaren respects the right to privacy of these individuals as well.
Collection, use, employee access, and destruction of no-longer-used information
Personal information collected includes but is not limited to personal information provided on membership and donor forms, exhibitor documentation , employee records as well as sales transactions.
The personal information collected is only what is reasonably necessary for the identified purposes and is for internal use only. It will be used or disclosed only for the purposes for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as permitted or required by law. Diligent steps will be made to ensure that our records are accurate, complete and up-to-date. It will be retained only for the period for which it is required or as long as is appropriate for such purposes. Once the information is no longer required, it is destroyed, erased or made anonymous.
We do not give, rent or sell the following: sales transaction information, our membership, donor, volunteer and/or mailing lists to any organization or individual, nor de we release any personal information without the consent of the individual unless required by law.
The MacLaren Art Centre maintains strict controls regarding public and employee access to personal information .
Identifying Purpose of Collection of Information and Consent
The MacLaren will identify and document the purposes for which we collect, use or disclose Personal Information at or before the time of collection. Should we plan to use personal information that we have collected for a purpose not previously identified, we will make a reasonable effort to identify the purpose, orally or in writing and to obtain an individual’s consent before use.
